At the door
Who gets in, and with which ID
Elements Casino Victoria admits guests aged 19 and older. Every guest shows government-issued photo ID at the door, as at every casino in British Columbia.

Nineteen, rain or shine
British Columbia sets the legal gambling age at 19, for casinos and online gambling alike. People under 19 may not enter gambling venues or take part in any gambling. At Elements Casino Victoria, the limit therefore starts at the entrance rather than at a table.
The casino asks every guest for government-issued photo ID on entry. Its event booklet adds a second request. Guests aged 19 to 25 are asked to carry a second piece of valid ID as well. Two cards in a wallet cover both checks.
The scan at the door
Since June 26, 2023, every person entering a B.C. casino must show government-issued photo ID. The rule is provincial, so it applies at Elements Casino Victoria and at every other casino in the province. Security scans the card on arrival.
Each scan is checked against the list of people restricted from entering. That list includes people enrolled in Game Break, the province's voluntary self-exclusion program. When a guest is let in, the system does not save any personal information. The scan works as a check, not a record.
Photo ID accepted at the door
- A B.C. driver's licence or any North American driver's licence is accepted.
- Both B.C. identity cards work: the B.C. Identity Card (BCID) and the B.C. Services Card.
- A Canadian or international passport counts, as do the Canadian citizenship card and the Canadian permanent resident card.
- The Secure Certificate of Indian Status card is accepted, along with membership cards issued by First Nations, Metis or Inuit bands.
- Global Affairs Canada's Canadian identity card and government-issued foreign ID complete the list.
Game Break and the entrance check
Game Break is the voluntary self-exclusion program for casinos in British Columbia. People enrol in person at a casino or community gaming centre, bringing government-issued photo ID. An electronic meeting with a BCLC employee is the other route. Terms run 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 3 years. Once chosen, the term cannot be changed.
The ID scan at the entrance is what enforces it: enrolled people are on the restricted list the door checks against. Self-exclusion from gambling facilities also covers PlayNow.com for the same period. Elements Casino Victoria has a GameSense Info Centre on site, and a GameSense Advisor is available in every casino in BC.
Questions at the desk
How old must guests be?
Guests must be 19 or older. That is the legal gambling age in British Columbia, and people under 19 may not enter gambling venues.
Is a foreign passport accepted?
An international passport is accepted at B.C. casinos. Government-issued foreign ID is on the list as well.
Why is the ID scanned?
Security checks each card against the list of people restricted from entering, such as Game Break enrolees. For guests who are let in, the system does not save personal information.
What does a guest aged 19 to 25 bring to an event?
The casino's event booklet asks guests aged 19 to 25 for a second piece of valid ID. That comes on top of the government-issued photo ID every guest shows on entry.
